Study confirms Port activities generate 132,700 jobs, $10.5 billion in GDP
Trade through Port Metro Vancouver generates 132,700 total jobs across Canada, according to a new study prepared for the Port by InterVISTAS Consulting Inc., a leading transportation consulting firm. As the first study to assess the economic impact of the amalgamated port, the study also concluded that Port-related activities generate $10.5 billion in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), $22 billion in economic output and $6.1 billion in wages.

Port Metro Vancouver ceases ocean disposal operations at Roberts Bank related to Deltaport Third Berth project
On Friday, October 17th, Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) suspended ocean disposal operations at Roberts Bank upon learning that the contractor, Deltaport Constructors Ltd. (a joint venture between Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd. and Graham Construction Ltd.) had exceeded ocean disposal amounts applied for under the 2008 ocean disposal permit.

Vancouver, BC: Port Metro Vancouver has announced it will contribute $2 million to the Corporation of Delta for the acquisition of the Seven Seas Fishing Company site in Ladner. The purchase of this property will help Delta secure public waterfront land to revitalize Ladner Harbour.

Port Metro Vancouver pleased with Federal Government’s Short Sea Shipping Funding Announcement
Port Metro Vancouver is pleased with today’s announcement by Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific Gateway) James Moore of up to $20.9 million in federal funding under the Asia Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative Transportation Infrastructure Fund for five short sea shipping projects and two road projects in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland.
